LARGE SCALE PROJECTS OFFICIALLY STARTED On April 20th and 27th 2012 Introductory partners' meetings of the Large Scale projects "Construction and equipment of the border crossing point „Grigorovshchina“ located at the border of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Latvia: introduction of a non-intrusive inspection technology" and "Construction and equipment of the border crossing point „Privalka“ located at the border of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Lithuania: introduction of a non-intrusive inspection technology" took place. The implementation of these projects started on April 1st, 2012.
The projects are aimed at introduction of the new non-intrusive vehicles customs clearance technology to the border crossing points "Grigorovshchina" and "Privalka".
The projects will result in replacing inefficient and time-consuming vehicles customs clearance procedures which include loading and unloading the goods by modern and efficient technologies of scanning large containers, trucks and other vehicles without intrusion. It will help to increase the capacity of the border crossing points and reduce the risk of queues on both sides of the border.
The overall budget of the project "Construction and equipment of the border crossing point „Grigorovshchina“ located at the border of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Latvia: itroduction of a non-intrusive inspection technology" amounts to 2 777 777,78 Euro (29,7 billion Belarusian roubles). 2 500 000 Euro (26,7 billion Belarusian roubles) of it will be funanced by the European Union for the project implementation in frame of the Cross Border Cooperation Programme, which covers 90% of project expenditures.
2 500 000 Euro will be allocated by the European Union for the implementation of the project "Construction and equipment of the border crossing point „Privalka“ located at the border of the Republic of Belarus with the Republic of Lithuania: introduction of a non-intrusive inspection technology".
Projects are implemented by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus in cooperation with the State Revenue Service of Latvia, the Vitebsk Regional Custom House, Minsk Central Custom House as well as Customs Department under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, Grodno Regional Custom House.
Projects implementation period is 27 months.
PROJECT “FOSTERING CAPACITY FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN LATGALE-UTENA-VITEBSK CROSS BORDER REGION”: LAUNCHING AND 1ST STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING On the 17th of April the official opening of one of the largest projects, from financial as well as established partnership (11 partners) point of view, “Fostering Capacity for Tourism Development in Latgale-Utena-Vitebsk Cross Border Region” (LLB-1-098) took place in Daugavpils. The event combined the 1st Steering Committee and project working group meetings. The representative of the Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Lolita Čepurnaja (Information specialist of Branch Office in Latvia) also took part in it presenting information on most important aspects for successful project implementation to participants.
The information on the planned as well as so far successfully implemented project activities was presented during the event: participation in international tourism exhibitions “Balttour 2012” in Riga (Latvia), “Vivattur 2012” in Vilnius (Lithuania) and “Holidays without Borders. Summer 2012” in St. Petersburg (Russia), as well as publishing of the brochure “Your most beautiful Holidays in Latgale, Aukštaitija and Vitebsk region” in Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian languages, which contains information about popular tourist sites of 3 border regions, including joint LV-LT-BY tourism map with cities, destinations and other necessary information for tourists. The Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Vitebsk Dagnija Lāce-Ate, the representatives of Utena, Zarasai, Anikščai, Polock, Braslav, Miory, Rossony, Verhnedvinsk municipalities, regional authorities of Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus as well as media representatives were among the participants of the event.
CONCERT “EASTER SWINGS“ On April 9th, 2012 the Concert Hall of Daugavpils Unity House hosted a concert of the Honored Amateur Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Belarus "LYAVONIKHA" in frame of the project LLB-1-072 "Daugavpils and Vitebsk: Cultural Cooperation and Development". The concert program of the Vitebsk ensemble offered the public the best samples of folklore of Belarus, Poland and Russia: folk songs and choreographic sketches, vocal and instrumental compositions reflecting the national culture of the Slavonic countries. Song and Dance Group "SVATRA" also took part in the concert. The two dance groups met during the joint master-class on March 24th-25th in Vitebsk. Vitebsk group was made very welcome by the public and earned long applause. Spectacular and energetic dances as well as beautiful folk songs charged the guests and the participants with spring mood. This Easter Concert is organised as part of the project “Daugavpils and Vitebsk: Cultural cooperation and Development” of ENPI CBC programme Latvia-Lituania-Belarus. The size of ENPI grant is EUR 267.106,68.

PROJECT “DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN BREAST CANCER AWARENESS, PREVENTION, EARLY DETECTION AND MANAGEMENT MEASURES IN BORDER REGIONS OF LATVIA, LITHUANIA AND BELARUS”: CONFERENCE AND TRAININGS On the 26th and 27th of January Daugavpils County Council, the Beneficiary of the project “Development of modern breast cancer awareness, prevention, early detection and management measures in border regions of Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus” (LLB-1-090), hosted the Conference “New Ways of Breast Cancer Detection, Management and Prevention”. The representative of the Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Lolita Čepurnaja (Information specialist of Branch Office in Latvia) also took part in it.
During the 2-days event the actual researches on breast cancer were presented to conference participants representing the oncology specialists from Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus. The parallel workshops held with participation of Latvian leading oncology specialists from Riga Stradins University for doctors of Daugavpils Regional Hospital, Lazdijai Hospital and Grodno Regional Clinical Hospital were focused on partners’ practical experience in breast cancer screening and surgery.
PROJECT “DAUGAVPILS AND VITEBSK: CULTURAL COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT”: START-UP SEMINAR On the 20th of January 2012 the official opening of the project “Daugavpils and Vitebsk: Cultural Cooperation and Development” (LLB-1-072) took place in Daugavpils. The representative of the Programme Lolita Čepurnaja (Information specialist of Branch Office in Latvia) also took part in it greeting seminar participants.
The information on the planned project activities was presented to the wide audience during the event, paying special attention to the expected results of the project. The Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Daugavpils, the representatives of Daugavpils Municipality, local and regional cultural authorities of Latvia and Belarus as well as media representatives were among the participants.
PROJECT “INNOVATION NETWORKING FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT“: CUTTING THE RIBBON The Opening of the project “Innovation networking for economic development“ (LLB-1-021) took place in Grodno on the 9th and 10th of November 2011. The representative of the Programme Volha Prokharava (Information specialist of Branch Office in Belarus) also took part in it.
During the event the project was presented to 24 participants representing local and regional authorities, universities, SMEs and relevant stakeholders of Belarus and Lithuania. The first community good practice workshop held during these days was focused on partners‘ experiences in innovation service provision, regional context and partners‘ expectations. |
